The researchers with the Rural Confluence team are working to better understand the unique challenges that rural communities face in the wake of a changing climate. That's why we are developing tailored solutions to help rural areas not just adapt, but thrive in the face of multiple challenges.

Our comprehensive approach includes engagement with community members to determine what specific local challenges and impacts their community is facing. Then, we work alongside community partners to develop new understandings of rural climate resilience; improved long-term forecasts of local climate change impacts; specific local plans to increase resilience; and new educational opportunities for K-12, college, and university students. By working with us, rural communities can increase their resilience to climate-related disasters and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
